It all started in a sparse hostel in Rio de Janeiro back in 2014. Between caipirinhas and capoeira Alex would help with digital strategy for tourism operators; a natural continuation of her years spent at Tourism NZ (the digital stuff, not the capoeira). The remote work continued in between Amazon jungle exploring, and when Alex saw a surf doco on California’s Mavericks, something clicked. Embracing direct sales through digital was a scary move for most tourism operators. Nearly as ballsy as dropping in on a big wave at Mavericks.
Five years later and Maverick Digital is all grown up. A mural of Che Guevara – the ultimate Maverick – watches over a colourful office full of digital gurus in Auckland. Helping the tourism industry harness the power of digital is a wickedly fun day job. Nearly as fun as the caipirinha Fridays.
The way you do your business is exceptional - you are all ‘can do’, love to go the extra mile, and get really excited about our product. Only two months in, our conversion rate is double what it was this time last year with our old website. I think that speaks for itself?
